experimental Cryosat SAR and classical-altimetry products (CPP)

Types of dataset: Monomission altimeter product (GDR-like): Cryosat.
These products were produced by Cnes in the framework of the CPP (Cryosat Processing Prototype) project.
Contents: along-track altimeter measurements at 1Hz, corrections to apply, in delayed time made from CryoSat FBR ESA products with specific processing, developed by CNES  . This includes the processing of the SAR data using a dedicated CNES retracking and the processing of LRM data based on the retracking algorithm than the one used on Jason-2 mission.
Use: open ocean, coastal applications, surface hydrology, ice regions
Description: specific product including dedicated processings (retracking of the waveforms) and corrections (wet and dry tropospheric corrections ...). Improvements of conventional satellite radar altimetry parameters lead to more accurate products over the several surface types.  Users should keep in mind that these products are experimental products. Notably, they are not produced on an operational basis. They are freely distributed without any warranty of any kind.

"Classical" altimetry product ("Low Resolution Mode")

Description: GDR-like data at 1 Hz and 20 Hz, with SAR mode data processed to mimick classical (nadir) altimetry. These data enable to use Cryosat like any other altimetry mission, mostly for open ocean applications and validation.
Geographic coverage: nearly global (Cryosat coverage up to 88°, except areas in SAR-In mode; see Cryosat altimeter Siral).

SAR-mode products

Description:  GDR-like data at 1 Hz and 20 Hz, with SAR mode data specifically processed. These data enable to use the full abilities of the SAR-mode (aka delay-doppler) altimetry
Geographic coverage: SAR mode areas (see Cryosat altimeter Siral).
