[Jason-1] End of Life Plan
Category: Operational news, News of the other missions
After the Joint Working Group presented its findings and recommendations, it was decided to let the satellite on its orbit and to perform partial tank depletion. Between 10 to 12 out of plane maneuvers will be necessary to empty about half of remaining propellant (about 11 kg). The maneuvers will begin on the 20th of July around 19:00 UTC (start of cycle 315) up to the 6th of August, during working days only. The instruments will stay ON during these maneuvers. The impact on the orbit inclination will be 0.04° max. So products of cycle 315 and 316 will be possibly degraded (in terms of quality and latency) and will have to be used with caution by users.
Jason-1 mission is starting today a series of maneuvers. Some impacts on products in terms of quality and latency are expected.
