Release of Reprocessed TOPEX/Poseidon Data

Category: News of the other missions

It is with enormous pleasure and no small amount of relief that we announce the release of the newly reprocessed TOPEX/Poseidon Data, just 11,411 days after launch.

Details and download instructions can be found in the release from PODAAC and CNES.
Many of you will recall just how long this reprocessing has been in the works, but suffice it to say--it has been a monumental task.  The effort involved deep dives into data archives and documentation (some of it undigitized), critical evaluation of the data, re-evaluation of the data, then re-re-evaluation.  It has been a heroic effort by the Project Teams at NASA and CNES, along with many others.  Because of their work, the accuracy and quality of this historic dataset has reached an unprecedented new level. This newly reprocessed dataset anchors the altimetric record of global sea level rise and will help improve our understanding of sea level change. Many people from many institutions contributed to this effort, and we owe them all a huge debt of gratitude.
