Two Sargassum detection products are now available on AVISO+ allowing to study the seasonal variability of the sargassum presence.

Two Sargassum detection products are now proposed to AVISO+ users:
"Floating sargassum algae detection with Sentinel-3 satellites": Maps of sargassum detection index NFAI (Normalized Floating Algae Index) for the year 2019 using OLCI onboard Sentinel-3 satellites.
"Floating sargassum algae detection with GOES-16 satellite": Maps of sargassum detection index FAI anomaly (Anomaly of Floating Algae Index) produced in real time from the geostationary satellite GOES-16 (ABI sensor).
