[Jason-1]: Status update after the anomaly on 21 June 2013

Category: Operational news

Jason-1 anomaly, occured on 21 June, is still under investigation.

After 53,535 orbits of the Earth, and less than four days after the completion of its first full 406-day geodetic cycle,  Jason-1 encountered an  unexpected anomaly on 21 June 2013.
Continued analysis and troubleshooting by CNES and NASA/JPL have so far been unable to restore any telemetry downlink from the satellite. It appears that the satellite is otherwise healthy, nadir-pointing, and continues to operate as expected. There has been no transition to safe mode and no disruption of the orbit.
Unfortunately, at this time there is still no estimate on when the science mission might be resumed.
We will keep you informed of any new developments. Thierry Guinle and Glenn Shirtliffe
