The first international users  meeting of the future SWOT satellite (launch on 2020) was held in Latin America, Rio de Janeiro. It was organized by the CPRM (the geological service in Brazil) and the IRD in collaboration with Cnes, Nasa/JPL. It brought together 50 scientists, experts and institutional leaders of Latin American countries (Brazil, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador).

The aims is to promote exchanges between experts in spatial hydrology and sustainable management of water resources.
