Jason-2 : all is nominal to continue the operations
Category: News of the Jason-2 mission
A few days after the arrival of the Jason-2 satellite, in Vandenberg (California, USA), the four project partners (Nasa, Cnes, Eumetsat, Noaa) have favorably discussed to pursue the operations, given to the positive conclusions of the functional tests. Preparations for the launch are therefore within a specified time frame: validation procedures and operations rehearsals on the 17th of May, filling of the satellite hydrazine tank and their pressurization the 19th of May, safety tests (detection of the possibility of leaks from nozzles), assembly on the 27th of May on the new Softride adapter, to connect the spacecraft to the Delta II launch vehicle in order to protect the satellite from violent vibrations during their ascent into orbit, validation of ground segment, preparation of electrical connections on the launch gantry structure, migration of the satellite on the launchpad SLC2-West scheduled on the 2nd of June.
