ECMWF model change and impact on altimetric products

An ECMWF model change will occur on May 17th around 12HUTC. The new model is named 37r2 and altimetric products will be impacted from May 18th onwards. All our model-based atmospheric corrections derived from the model will be slightly impacted. Thanks to a joint collaboration between ECMWF and Jason-2 project (Eumetsat, Noaa, JPL and Cnes), validation tests have been carried out in the last few weeks for Jason-2 and Envisat products considering both model versions, by looking more precisely at the following ECMWF derived parameters: wet tropospheric correction, dry tropospheric correction and sea surface pressure.
The results indicate no problem in processing chains ; new 37r2 has a small impact of few mm on dry tropospheric correction (and so on the inverse barometer correction). Impact should be seen also (~1 mm) on the wet tropospheric correction.
No impact is expected in data latency for any type of product (OSDR, OGDR and IGDR)
