the HY-2A satellite was successfully launched on August 16, 6h57 (local time) from China.

The satellite was launched on August 16, 2011 at 6h57 local time (August 15, 22h57 GMT). The different instruments will be switched on in the coming days. The final orbit (971 km) will be reached in 15 days. CNES (responsible for the onboard Doris instrument) is participating to the satellite on-orbit positionning by providing the first orbits.
