[Jason-1 Geodetic Orbit] IGDR products available

Category: Operational news

We are now pleased to announce that Jason-1 IGDR products are available for dissemination.

As you know, the Jason-1 mission on its new geodetic orbit was resumed on May 7, 2012 (<link http: www.aviso.oceanobs.com en news-storage news-detail external-link-new-window>see last operational news). OSDR products have already been distributed to users but offline products have been retained.
We are now pleased to announce that Jason-1 IGDR products are available for dissemination.
Before authorizing their dissemination, we have performed a lot of controls, calval analysis and cross-calibrations in order to guarantee the quality of new IGDR products. During the control, we have discovered some problems in the processing chains that have required updates. Now everything is solved and the SSH crossover statistics are close to the performance on the old reference orbit.
Meanwhile, this period has been useful to prepare a detailed technical note about the charateristics and objectives of the new orbit and FAQ (<link fileadmin documents news mod_actus technical_note_j1_geodetic_mission.pdf _blank download>see pdf file and<link fileadmin documents news mod_actus j1_eol_passes.dat _blank download> list of cycles and passes) and impacts on new products (<link fileadmin documents news mod_actus jason-1_geodetic_mission_capabilities_statement-final.pdf _blank download>see pdf file).
