[SWOT] Change of orbit

Category: Operational news

Beginning of the change the spacecraft orbit from the 1-day repeat to the 21-day repeat orbit which requires a series of propulsive maneuvers conducted from July 11, 2023 to July 21, 2023.

Dear AVISO users,

The SWOT project is continuing forward, reaching another milestone for completing the measurement Cal/Val phase and preparing to start the global mapping science phase. To start this phase, we need to change the spacecraft orbit from the 1-day repeat to the 21-day repeat orbit. The orbit change requires a series of propulsive maneuvers conducted from July 11, 2023 to July 21, 2023. There may be some adjustment on the timeline depending on the actual orbit maneuver performance. Once we complete the orbit maneuvers there will be some additional configuration activities for a few days after the maneuvers. During the orbit change period, we will pause production and release of the O/I(GDR) nadir altimeter and radiometer science data products. Production and release of these products will resume once we complete the maneuver process. We will inform you of any significant changes or updates on the status, plans and timelines.

Best regards,
The SWOT project and AVISO teams
