Vendée Globe 1996-1997: Auguin, Autissier and Roufs

Wave heights measured by satellite altimetry (Topex/Poseidon and ERS-2) between November 30, 1996 and January 30, 1997 in the Antarctic Ocean. Boats were tracked by a combined Argos and GPS system.

The Gerry Roufs's Argos system stopped transmitting on January 7, 1997 while he was in second place behind Christophe Auguin. Extensive research has been put in place. Its sailing boat will be located six months later on an island in southern Chile.
