experimental Coastal Along-Track SLA Jason-2 products
Types of dataset: Jason-2 along-track SLA coastal altimeter product.
Contents: High-resolution along-track altimetric Sea Level Anomalies measurements at 5 Hz, on reference tracks, in delayed-time made from experimental Jason-2 Coastal altimeter products with specific processing.
Three SLA using three different retracking are delivered. For each, two different filtering are proposed. Tides and atmospheric corrections are also delivered in order to allow modelers to adapt the product to their own corrections.
Each file covers all the data period for a given area and for one pass.
Use: coastal applications, ocean variability (small scale circulation, seasonal variation...),
Description: specific product for coastal areas including dedicated processing (retracking of the waveforms) and corrections (wet and dry tropospheric corrections, ...). Improvements of conventional satellite radar altimetry products over these areas lead to more accurate data near the coasts.
Users should keep in mind that these products are experimental products. Notably, they are not produced on an operational basis. They are freely distributed without any warranty of any kind.
Geographic coverage: few test zones are provided to users and can be generalized to all coastal regions. Several scientific groups have already shown their interest for these Pistach data, tell us your own interest by contacting Aviso.
Four areas are delivered:
- Agulhas current (5 passes),
- Florida Strait (1 pass),
- Oregon (4 passes),
- Mid Atlantic Bight (2 passes).
Format: NetCDF CF1.4
